In GHOST, after being gunned down and killed by a mugger while walking home from an evening on the town with his girlfriend Molly (Moore), Sam (Swayze) finds that his spirit is trapped between two worlds, leaving his ghost on Earth to investigate the reason for the crime that killed him. Realizing that his supposed best friend Carl (Tony Goldwyn) had him killed over a multi-million dollar scandal, he feels compelled to warn his girlfriend but discovers that he can no longer communicate with the human world and seeks the help of psychic Oda Mae Brown (Goldberg).
