The Movie Guys: If they were to do a sequel to The Outsiders, how much would it cost?

Swayze: (laughs) I think we would all do it for scale, just for the memories. That movie launched so many careers (Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Emillo Estevez, Matt Dillion and Ralph Macchio.) I'd almost do it for nothing to just thank Francis (Ford Coppola) for casting us all. We were on a soundstage with hundreds and hundreds of guys from every where and he kept pairing, mixing and matching. It was a total crap shoot that all these guys came together.

The sad thing about the final release of "The Outsiders" is that the majority of the scenes involving the Curtis Brothers were deleted. This was due to the sudden popularity of Matt Dillon. In the future, this site will hopefully contain some of the photos from cut scenes and script transcripts (when time permits). The hopeful aspect of the situation is that Francis Ford Coppola does (or at the very least did have) all the cut footage as the original version aired in Los Angeles for a special event several years ago. Perhaps if Robert Wise's re-edited version of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" does well when released in 2001, Coppola could be convinced to issue a restored version of "The Outsiders" so that the world could finally see the touching tale of The Curtis Brothers and not just the saga of bad-boy "Dallas", as played by Matt Dillon.
