Patrick starred as "Miss Vida Boheme"

Filming took place chiefly in Loma, Nebraska, a very small town outside of Lincoln. In fact, when production crew arrived, there were only two buildings comprising the town, and the rest had to be built. Below are a few photographs of the Loma area in August of 1994 when filming was taking place.

This is the main "dead end", coming off the access road. A right turn quickly lead to a "road closed" sign. Turning left took a driver to the other side of the town and was the main "entrance". Loma was completely closed off during the shoot to anyone but residents. Security personnel guarded both ends of town at different points.

Remember the hilly terrain visible as the "ladies" drove through the countryside? This area of Nebraska had several such locales, including this one, which was the main access off the local highway. There was a party held at one of the ranches just off of this road and while driving, various signs of "Wong Foo Party Right Turn" could be seen.

The church steeple of Loma can be seen. This was as close as a tourist without a pass could get.

This is from another view. Loma is in the distance and this is one of many surrounding farms. Most Loma "residents" live outside of the town, and most were relieved to have the studio trappings gone when filming wrapped.

Patrick and co-stars Wesley Snipes and John Leguizamo stayed in the Lincoln area for approximately three months. Wesley was said to have taken a suite in the busy market area, while Patrick and Lisa were said to have been given access to a local ranch during the shoot.

Filming began for a few days in New York City, with sites that included Patrick's New York restaurant. Patrick also had an early injury when one of the performers stepped on "Miss Vida's" long gown causing a fall.

Patrick, Wesley and John were the guests on the season premier of "Oprah" the following year and recreated their short dance number from the movie.
