Northern Region Summaries: 

  • Saturday - Swim Finals:  In another race to the finish, the girls finish second in the Region to Fairfax.  The final difference was 3.5 points.

    In addition, Katy Hinkle set a new team record in the 100 Back with an Automatic All-American time and Abby Ortmayer lowered her team record in the 100 Breaststroke with an All-American Consideration time.

    On the boys side, AJ Dunn dropped times in both of his events (200 IM, 100 Breaststroke) to head into the State meet with cut times and improved seeding.  He joins the diving duo of Tom Wells and Jake Ward at States.

  • Friday - Swim Prelims:  The girls put on a great showing and have 13 finals entries in the individual events and all three relays in the A final.  The 200 relays are top seeds and made Automatic All-American times in prelims.  On the boys side, AJ Dunn earned a birth in the state meet in both the 100 Breaststroke and 200 IM.  Mike Allen joins AJ in the finals tonight (100 Back).

  • Thursday - Girls Diving puts the girls out front early in the Northern Region race.  Maren Taylor repeats as Northern Region champ (nearly 50 points ahead of second place with a new Team Record point total) and Meg Alderman finishes 7th.  Both Maren and Meg will be heading to the beach to dive in the State meet.  Congratulations to all the Yorktown divers.

  • Wednesday - Boys Diving starts out with a bang.  All four Yorktown divers make the final 16 (25% of the finalists from Yorktown) and bring home 25 points.  Congratulations!!  Tom Wells and Jake Ward have qualified to dive at the State Meet next weekend.
