For some reason I felt the band and the fans never quite got the energy-thing flowing back and forth. The band played well ... but the show lacked any real direction. The highlights were the very impressive Twilight->Laced->Twilight and the One More Time. Gump said it best last week when he talked about how tasty these Twilight sandwiches are becoming. Mt. Marlane was a great opener and it was enhanced with a little extra jamming, but energy dropped off after that. Legalize It sounded like Mustang Sally - not exactly bad to hear a new take on Legalize It but it almost sounded sloppy. One very interesting note: the new tune "See You Again" has a new feel to it - once again showing that it takes a little while for Juggling tunes to grow and develop. It was nice to see and hear Casey again, but it was more of a novelty than a huge plus. Casey will always hold a big spot in our Juggling hearts, but Ivan has just been so on lately I kind of missed him. Casey often provides quick bursts of enery - but Ivan (from my perspective) takes jams in very interesting directions. Its almost like you don't notice Ivan for a while and then he does something to change the direction of a jam and then you're in his zone the whole night. He is like Fishman - not exactly the focal point but always involved and pulling-out all kinds of twists and turns. So in the end - the Blue Star was good. Face it, the Suns have upped the standards and we the fans owe it to them to hold them to those high expectations. On to Baltimore....

Blue Star Release Party a nice groove

Hey all, Just wanted to thank the whole Jugs scene for a nice time friday in Dankcaster,PA. Things got kicked off in the usual manner at John and Julie's Crib. Nice little turnout. Got to the Blue Star and said my hello's to the Band, and caught up with Brianne to buy my copy of this treasure. Broke open the packaging and got the three members who were there to autograph it for me. Very sweet. The album is perfect. The haven't stopped listening since friday night. The Packaging is wonderful! Kudos to everyone involved with this project. Awesome art work, a big hand out to Elise for the inside liner notes, very cool. Now onto the show. With Casey on drums instead of Ivan was good the show was solid, The only songs Jams to stand out for me was Northern Lights>Cats are Martians and Twilight>Laced>Twilight the rest of the show was a give and take for me, But is understandable since casey I'm sure was rusty since not being in the mix for a while. The vocals he provided was cool, "Check it Out & Little Wing worked out well. Also Kudos to the the Kind folks who joined in on the Drum circle which occured at set break. The drumming lasted pretty much the entire break and was cool, much fun. Hey a special thanks to everyone who made friday's show a nice groove. See you all Friday at the Vault and enjoy the new Disc I know I will. Thanks Brad
