Howdy Gang:

44 years ago to the day, God graced us with a special gift - we call him Markie D. Super loads of fun tonight at the B-Day gig (and how many times did we sing Happy Birthday?).

I think it's safe to say that Mark got his biggest B-Day present in the mail on Fri/Sat. Tonight was the first night of many, many, many more nights to come when the new sound of Mark's amp is ringing through the night. The new Tone Tubby speakers (abrown sound) are the chit! They look cool and they sound like they were made in heaven :) Mark was like a ......... (kid in candy store, or maybe a pig in chit) - all smiles from ear to ear. The clarity - oh my goodness, the clarity - searing highs and beefy bottoms will be the new norm (but we might have to get Gus and Ivan some ear plugs). Tone Tubby's are also used (and have received rave reviews) by some other guitarists we all know and love (aka Carlos Santana and Steve Kimock). Mark's best comments to me were "the tone in my head is unbelievable" and "oh my God, it's so easy to play - so much clarity." Ask Mark to tell you all about it :)

Really big crowd to start the gig, some incredible energy. Some really nice jams tonight - Stringbean sat in on harmonica for a couple of songs early in the first set, and sounded wonderful as always. Kenny G. ripped it up on bass to start set 2, including the switch on Iron Man >> Festival. Laced in Silver seemed spacey but oh so tight, and the jam around Obsession simply left the planet - still trying to find the whereabouts of that one (Gus has integrated a new delay pedal into his sound, and it really adds a new dimension to some of the more spacier interludes).

Sorry about the no tapes tonight (especially guywiththehat) - next time for sure :)

Off to much needed sleep. Happy B-Day Markie D. Safe travels and knock'em dead down south. See ya'll at the Sawmill :)
