Hey Everyone!
Deviant weather inspired a deviant night of music at the ever-pleasant Harvest Moon. Not a very big crowd turnout (definitely fewer then 500 people), but that, of course, never stops the band from immediately launching themselves into a cosmic interstellar journey far past the realms of mortality.
The first set met with the woos of the startled onlookers as Mark threw his voice through the moving jaw of a dancing string puppet (I guess meant to represent Arthur) to create the illusion that the puppet was singing. From there, all hell broke loose. The Gypsy Kings sat in on “Jack Straw”, singing the Spanish version of the song in beautiful harmony with Mark, Gus, and Bruce’s vocals. During the “Bird Song” jam, Bruce polymorphed into a feral wolverine and started devouring members of the audience. “Laced in Silver”s long, spacey jam features over twenty different teases, including the infamous “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree” tease (dedicated verbally by Mark to the great Tony Orlando and Dawn). See below for a complete listing of all the teases during Laced.
The second set was a little but more unusual for Juggling but still great music. Gus was jamming so hard during “Jumping Over Ashes” that he activated some innate telekinetic powers in his mind and involuntarily started launching random items from the room all over the place. It was wild! Like some scene from poltergeist. Bruce got really into the spirit of Jim Morrison during “Roadhouse Blues” and was just barely thwarted by Mark in his efforts to expose himself on stage. Finally, “Festival” was actually the last 6 songs, as the band repeated it half a dozen times for lack of any ideas of what else to play.
All in all a fun night of great music and a few minor, memorable moments. See ya’ll in Beirut (I mean Asbury Park) tonight.
Peace,
Jay & Sean

awesome reveiw! i guess they do the cool stuff when i dont come along i guess....
I have to give the award to this guy for a wonderfully contrived setlist/reveiw- because it rivals the Infamous April Fools Day shows in the past (i think Juggling Boneseses has these archived)
stay groovy:)
