Howdy Gang:
What a crazy night in Ardmore. Things started off with a bang - literally. About 40 min before the scheduled start of the show, we blew up the house soundboard. Never saw anything like it in my life. Fortunately, I carry a spare in my back pocket and we were able to get things up and running in a hurry - kudos to house sound man George for his cool head.
Musically, it was sort of an up and down show. The low attendance definitely affected the band's energy early on, but it was nice to have Bruce back in the saddle. After some encouragement from Tim to "light a fire," the band responded with a strong version of Crimson > Crimson jam that segued nicely into the familiar trilogy of Shakedown > TNK > AHT. Set 2 certainly had it's moments - after a very shaky start, Wicked History went way out there, and there was a nice version of Shelter. Obsession was fun, and after a "deep space jam," we were treated to a very fine Morning Dew. All in all, a "just okay show" to this harsh critic's ears, but those that were there danced like crazy.
Gonna take the night off tonight and go see Mr. Kimock in Philly. Tomorrow we return to Petestock in the hinterlands of NW Jersey.
