Juggling Suns History II Posted on 3/14/2002 at 02:43:49 AM by taper88
*** Juggling did start out as a cover band sometime around 94 or 95. Hydrophonics Records was created by Jon & Marsha Zazula(MegaForce Records) to showcase Juggling Suns. During 96 & 97 Jon & Marsha's Crazed Management had been talking with Mark & Solar Circus about a management deal. When Solar broke up in early 97, Mark, Kevin & Gus signed with Crazed Management. Tank and Casey were brought on board and a new Juggling Suns was launched in the Spring of 97. The CD "Living On The Edge Of Change" was recorded and mixed during June 97. At this time Juggling was managed by Crazed Management but still signed with Relix Records. Juggling had signed up with Relix in 95 and had released the live cd "Doorway To The Angels" that same year.
During the Summer of 97, Hydrophonics Records was born. Crazed M was trying to sign Juggling with a major label so they released the "Edge Of Change" CD themselves on their own brand new record label, Hydrophonics, hoping to generate some buzz in the biz. By this time Crazed M had also signed the Disco Biscuits(and soon The Ominous Seapods too). For the rest of 97 and the first half of 98, Juggling Suns played the club scene up and down the East Coast, the West Coast & South a couple of times and even played Japan. With 3 song writers & 5 singers, Juggling had a lot to say and play. New original songs came and went. A few stuck around. Most didn't. A limited number of old Solar Circus tunes were gradually brought back into the repertoire. During the Summer of 98 Casey left the band and Corey joined as drummer. There was considerable overlap. Even though Casey had quit in August 98(I think), he was still playing shows through till September 98. Even though Corey had officially joined in August 98(I think), he couldn't commit full time until September 98. This lineup Raged for about 10 or 11 months.
Sometime during June\July 99, Kevin left the group. Juggling Suns then regrouped and reorganized. Instead of hiring a new bass player, Tank assumed the role of playing bass using his Midi guitar. Juggling Suns hit the club circuit as a four piece, blowing the minds of the dwindling crowds that came to see them. They Jammed hard for four months, but in Fall of 99, Tank & Corey left the band after playing their last show on 10-16-99. There had now been 3 distinct lineups, 4 counting Juggling's birth as a cover band. Each had its own songs, jams & sound. Each had something Amazing to offer. In the late Fall 99, Mark & Gus were joined by Bruce Wigdor on bass. Bruce had been the original keyboardist in early Solar Circus. Back when Solar was breaking out new songs like Laced, Spin, Mt. Marlane, One More Time, etc. George Maldonado played rhythm guitar off and on for the next 5 or 6 months. The drummers chair was left open. That kinda brings us up to date. The Past was a blast but the Future is brighter.
