Texas Sheet Cake

1 cup butter
1 cup water
4 tablespoons cocoa
2 cups sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate Frosting (recipe below)

Mix butter, water, and cocoa together in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir the baking soda into the buttermilk. Place the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot liquid over it and mix well. Add the buttermilk mixture and the vanilla extract; stir until blended. Spread in an ungreased jelly roll pan and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Frost with Chocolate Frosting while cake is still warm.

Chocolate Frosting

1 stick butter
6 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 box powdered sugar

Melt butter, milk, and cocoa together over low heat in a heavy saucepan. Remove from heat and add sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until sugar is dissolved. Pour over warm cake and spread evenly with a spatula.
