I love music...way too much. And I'm a stooge to the recording industry because I hate waiting to download stuff so I still buy CDs. I do try to buy from locally-owned companies like Car City, Record Time, Dearborn Music and Harmony House. If everybody doesn't start buying locally, Best Buy and the like will take over and we'll be stuck with Spear Britney, uh, Britney Spears or whoever else they want to force on us.

I have extremely catholic (note the small “c”) tastes, I even like some country & western, but you won't find any Eminem here, because he's full of hate and violence directed at women and homosexuals. Actually you won't find much rap here at all. We need less toxic cruelty in our lives, not more.

Everything else is fair game, check these out, they're awesome.

Sigur Rós are moody, atmospheric, ambient and Icelandic. Great for those days when it's cold and gets dark early.
Making the world safe for frilly shirted highwaymen...There are 2 Adam Ant greatest hits CDs floating around, I much prefer this one, despite its cheesy title (Antics in the Forbidden Zone), to “Essential," because with this one you get more Adam, “Car Trouble” and the precognisant "Whip in My Valise.” At one time, Stuart Goddard was a fine-looking man. Am I homesick for the ’80s.
Just bought this fabulous album from former Smiths/Electronic/Oasis/TheThe guitarist Johnny Marr. Really good stuff. Sort of like the Stone Roses meets the Smiths.
So many classics, it makes your head spin. Depeche Mode detonated electronica and this is your proof. Still sounds fresh 15 years later.
Jarvo and the gang skewer the caste system. Before there was Different Class there was His 'n' Hers and some people like this one even better.
The epicenely beautiful and talented misanthrope Morrissey has been entertaining me for 20 years. Hardly a day goes by without a listen to one of his CDs (or vinyl LPs). This is my favourite this week, it's just raw. He has a new release imminent and hopefully will tour, his shows are electric.
Early Lush (pre-name-of-their-big-hit-that-wasn't-that-great) are like the Cocteau Twins produced by Jack White, to coin an anachronism. Shimmery and, yeah, luscious.
Another shimmery and luscious one.
