A friend commented that in community
parlance, the Woods Rd. neighborhood is a circle, not a cul-de-sac.
The term circle doesn't do the neighborhood justice, so the more
descriptive term of rectangular diverticulum has been invented for
the Woods Rd./Pleasant Dr. configuration.
From Webster's Dictionary:
cul-de-sac: 1:
a blind diverticulum or pouch 2: a street closed at one
end
diverticulum: a
pocket or closed branch opening off of a main passage
dead end: a street
without an exit
circle: a curving
side street
