Er, Sorry for the Absence

I'd like to take this time to apologize for my absence over the last...let's see...five or six months. My new life in collage paired with an amount of news in the Monkey Island world that's lighter than the malnurished Herman Toothrot have kept me from performing the rituals of webpage maintanence. I'm afraid with LucasArts cancelling both of it's adventure games endevers for this year ('Full Throttle 2' and the 'Sam and Max' sequel), we may be waiting a bit for another installment of the adventures of Guybrush Threepwood. But nontheless, I will kept my fingers crossed for the future.

Ron Gilbert Gave Us All Eternal Life
I searched my usual sources for some sort of intersting Monkey Island news to give you fine people upon my return to Herman's Homepage, and it was quite a search, but I did manage to find something interesting. On Monday The International House of Mojo posted a snip from an interview with David Fox, who worked on such LucasArts classics as Zak McKracken and Maniac Mansion. In the interview he credited Monkey Island creator and our savior Ron Gilbert as the man responsible for starting the tradition of not being able to die in a LucasArts adventure game.
"He spent a lot of time playing Sierra adventure games and really disliked the way they used death as a way to impede the player and prolong the game..."

The World of Monkey Island has given themselves a present for their sixth birthday. They have given the site a previously hinted at new design with some new features included if your a member. The site is very pretty, wonderful spot for a vacation or honeymoon, go check it out!

Also to be noted, The SCUMM Bar recently turned seven, these two sites are two of the oldest and by far the best MI sites out there, so if you haven't visited, get yerself on over!

Update by Capt. Sam Vane

Ok, I haven't updated in a long time, sorry 'bout that. I've started school and it's kept me busy. A lot has happened in the time I've been away, so here we go with a couple developments...
Full Throttle 2...Canceled!

Thanks goes to Lagomorph and Jens who both emailed me this news a while ago. If you have been tracking the creation of Full Throttle: Hell On Wheels, then you've probably heard the disappointing news that the project has been canceled by LucasArts.
"We do not want to disappoint the many fans of Full Throttle,” says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts, “and hope everyone can understand how committed we are to delivering the best quality gaming experience that we possibly can.”

That is too bad because I'm disappointed about the game getting canceled. You can go here to see that press release in fancy LucasArts font colors and with it's own background

It Aint So

I was rather surprised some number of days ago to discover that the SCUMM Bar is back up. A surprise because, as you may recall, it was implied some months ago that the SCUMM Bar would not be returning. I'm not complaining though, I'm certainly happy to see that the king has returned. The World of Monkey Island is back up and running strong as well.
