Patagonia

Buzz Burrell above Glacier Grey on the Paine Circuit Buzz Burrell, Stephanie Ehret, Lisa Ledet and I took a trip to Patagonia in 2005. We ran some amazing and really classic routes, which I include here because they are classic and other people will no doubt want to try them. A quick summary follows, there are more photos and info about our trip here.

The Paine Circuit is the premier route in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. It is 100+ km through some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth. Outside Magazine called the Paine Circuit one of the top ten treks in the world. 'Nuf said. On February 16, 2005, Buzz and I ran the circuit in 15:39, which we think is the FKT.

The Dientes de Navarino, Isla Navarino in Tierra del Fuego (Chile) is a more obscure but equally amazing route. It is 54 km through some of the most rugged country you are ever likely to traverse. It is also considered the southern-most trek in the world, and from one place you can view Cape Horn. Wow! Just getting there is an adventure. The 4 of us ran the route in 11:26 on February 11, 2005.
