Hi Don.
We had a work party at the field on Thursday, we smoothed out the center of the runway and seeded. Below is the story and attached is a picture if you would like to put it on the web. The picture is not the best quality, it's a cell phone picture...... the only camera I had with me. You should find the size correct for your web page.
Thanks Jim

A Smoother Runway.
On Thursday April 23, we had a small last minute arranged work party out at the field and smoothed the center of the runway with black dirt and seeded the entire runway. Scott Harrison made the suggestion and Ray Peterson arranged for a truck load of black dirt delivered and also picked up some grass seed and called a couple of us for some help with shovels and rakes. Scott arrived with his ATV, a small trailer for hauling dirt, workand some drags to pull behind the ATV to spread the dirt. Ray was there early to supervise the dirt delivery. Our new member Carl Bates and myself (Jim Mullins) arrived with shovels and we went to work. It was going slow and then here comes Jim Kounkel on his tractor and really made things easy for us, until the tractor motor died. We fussed with it, Jim says it does this every year......the fuel line plugs up. Jim retired for the evening, it’s about 6:00 PM now and we went back to shovels. The next thing we know, Scott and Carl are working on the tractor and it’s running. Scott made quick work of getting the rest of the dirt spread out on the runway, and we also used up that old pile of dirt that was at the east end of the pits. We finished up at 7:30 in a little thunder shower........ perfect, the new seed got watered. The center run of the runway is much smoother and should look great when the new seed grows. It was a worthwhile project and we all had fun doing it for the club.

I guess that the next work project is moving the out house. It is heavy and I hope that some of the old timers remember how it was moved into place so that we can have some expert advice on how to move it to a new hole.

Thanks again guys for your service to our club....... Jim

The frequency board and grill are back out on the field. A hole has been dug for the out house. Now we need to find a way to move it over.
