Election 2004

This Presidential Election may be the most important in my lifetime. We have a President who took us to war under false pretenses, resulting in the deaths of thousands of innocent (and guilty, but who are we to judge?) Iraqi men, women and children, the deaths of hundreds of American men and women and the erosion of favorable attitudes towards the US around the world. This war has also boosted recruitment for anti-US terrorist orgianizations and diverted resources away from the search for those who actually attacked our nation, thereby making us less safe from terrorist acts.

We have an economy that is worse off than when he took office, the problems beginning after he took office, but before the attacks of 9/11. He gave tax cuts to the weathiest based on the 'voodoo economics' ideas of trickle-down when it is well known that additional money in wealthy persons' hands will not necessarily be invested in America, but invested internationally wherever the best return may lay (and who can blame them for seeking the best returns?). The best way to assist the US economy is to improve education and opportunity for the millions of middle class and poorer people who's job prospects are dwindling so they can seek better jobs and create more businesses and opportunities for even more Americans. That is investing in America, something we can not count on the wealthiest to do.
