Research Project - On Location
I lived in this hut for 2 weeks in July, 2002 while doing data collection for a research project ("Factors affecting growth of 7-13 year old students in Ban Pao, Thailand") for credit towards my Master of Public Health degree. The project was organized in conjunction with Ecoventure Thailand. The dog resting in the shelter next to the hut is Dam (Thai for black). He belongs to the village headman ("Khamnan"). Ban Pao is in the Southwestern part of Mukdahan province--near the border with Roi Et--about 50 km from the capital city (Mukdahan), which is on the Mekong River across from Savannakhet, Laos.

The other links in the navigation bar take you some of the data from the study. See also the process improvement section for a discussion on dengue fever prevention.
