Who Are We?

After teaching 40 years of French and Latin to high school students in Louisville, Kentucky, Brother Sylan (CFX) decided to follow the powerful words of Mary at Fatima, Portugal. So, in 1949,he combined his teaching experience with the message of Fatima by showing others how to make rosaries. He began this mission ministry by instructing children which then grew into a club. This club expanded into an international movement in just two short years. In 1951, Brother Sylan passed into heaven, but his organization has grown into a large following of individuals and groups throughout all 50 states in the US and at least 15 other countries. The rosary CAN do miracles!

Today, Our Lady's Rosary Makers is a non-profit organization devoted to producing and distributing FREE rosaries to missions throughout the world. In 1997 alone over 8,500,000 mission rosaries were made and sent FREE around the world. Think of the prayer power! Thousands more rosaries are needed because the current amount satisfies only about one-tenth of the demand we receive for rosaries.

At this time there are closed to 24,000 offical members; those who send their annual $2.00 dues. There is a total customer base of over 65,000 people. Members consists of thousands of volunteers in all 50 states and in at least 15 countries. People from all walks of life and allages--mothers, fathers, children, priests, religious, retirees,etc.--devote from one hour a week to hundreds of hours a year to weaving beads and string or wire into the meditative rosary. Membership is easy and spiritually rewarding!

Headquarters are based in Louisville, Kentucky from where members can order supplies, receive instructional material, and learn more about where rosaries are needed. Our Lady's Rosary Makers, a non-profit organization, is incorporated in the State of Kentucky. It operates through a Board of 10 lay directors, who are elected yearly from the guilds of the Louisville Archdiocese, with spiritual guidance of a Priest Chaplain appointed by the Archbishop of Louisville.
