Here's a few photos of our "new" house (actually circa 1927) on Black Road in Joliet.
Front exterior, with Maddie already enjoying the yard.
Front door, from the hallway, with leaded glass on all sides.
Front hallway. The first open staircase I've ever had.
Living room, with tiled gas fireplace.
Formal dining room, with coved ceiling. The coving, along with the leaded glass in the
front hallway, reminds us of our Victorian-era condo in the city that we still miss.
Sunroom on east side of house. I'm already contemplating quite a bit of Sunday paper-reading here.
Kitchen is quite roomy for a house of this vintage. Cabinets are classic St. Charles metal cabinets from the 1950s.
Master bedroom. Much roomier than we'll ever need, so much so that it could accomodate a master
bath/walk-in closet add-in sometime in the future. That's our friend/realtor Jim peering out the window.
Office just off second floor stairway landing, with one of the lucky mortgagees. Perhaps the Great
American Novel will be written here. Or just a lot of websurfing accomplished.
Very roomy backyard. Has some nice details but is still very much a blank canvas.
Detached garage is ours and matches the house. The hot tub, mercifully, will not be ours.
