Year codes follow a decade-year format. For example 1973 would be D3. The letter representing the decade, C=60s, D=70s, E=80s, and so on. The 3 representing the year in that decade. Month and day codes are similiar, the day is the number, and the letter the month. 05A for example would be January 5th. If a car's model year extends into a second year, the second year month code will be used.
