Northern New England Railfan Site
Introduction to
this website
The intention of this website is to provide the railfan visiting the North
East some idea of what can be expected trackside at any given time, or day of the
week. The original intention was to cover the railroads of northern New
England. One thing led to another, and now has expanded to cover a somewhat
larger area. This site is maintained for the benifit of all railfans. Errors
and other "bum dope" is to be expected as I cannot be everywhere and
know what's going on for all the railroads covered. YOUR input is needed to
keep this site as accurate as possible, for the use of others. The bottom of
each section has a date indicating the last time something was changed in that
section.
The listed Frequencies are believed to be
accurate.
The Rosters are also believed to be accurate.
The Milepost listings are as complete, as
currently known. The intent is to provide an idea of where a train is when
conversation is heard on your scanner.

The Train Schedules are as accurate as I can
maintain them. Obviously, subject to change without any notice. Even if the
schedules are accurate, there are no end of situations that can alter the schedule
on the day that you are trackside. Power problems, crew rest time, broken
rails, track maintainance, derailments, weather, and meets with opposing
trains, are just some of the common situations that routinely effect schedules.
Passenger trains generally have priority over freight trains. So, freight
trains often have to wait for excessive amounts of time when things don't go as
planned. Again, the intention here is to give the railfan, unfamiliar with a
particular area, some general idea of what can be expected for action. Listen
to your scanner for situations that may effect your photo ops.
More and more fences are being constructed around railroad facilities,
railroad police are more active, and the "No
Trespassing" signs are getting bigger. Don't contribute to this
problem. Keep off equipment, stay off the tracks, stay out of buildings, and
respect the "No Trespassing" signs. If asked to leave, please do so
without making it harder for the next guy just wanting to take a picture.

Several railroads, the smaller ones in particular, have provided valuable
information for this website.
"Tid bits" of information has been obtained from numerous sources,
and not the least of which is the Nerail
e-mail newsgroup members. Contributing individuals are usually not named as
some of their bosses may not be appreciative.
This site is intended to be a simple quick loading site that provides,
hopefully, useful information and is not splattered with "flashy" eye
catchers that add nothing to the content. The addition of photographs and fancy
backgrounds would only make the site less useful for those that own an
older/cheaper machine.
