Dilbert
I went to West Hills Pet Center in May of 2005 to get some dog food and was looking at the rats. The girl that worked there knew I loved rats and told me about Dilbert. Dilbert was dropped off by his owner because she had too many rats. They were keeping Dilbert under the counter in a small tank. If they didn't find him a home they were going to sell him as a feeder. Dilbert is a beautiful agouti rex cross and he was so nice I couldn't imagine him being used as a feeder. Even though I knew my husband would be furious if I brought home another rat, I couldn't leave Dilbert there. The girl put Dilbert in a box, taped it up, and we were on our way. Dilbert didn't take to us, but loved trying to get close to Paige, my female rat. He would get so excited when he saw her that he would literally hop over to her cage to say hello. Paige was an older girl and didn't give Dilbert the time of day. Because Dilbert was so nervous and jumpy with us and the fact that I was so allergic to rats I knew it was best to re home him. I think he was nervous because of all of the dogs and cats he smelled, but maybe he just didn't like us. I contacted a couple that does rat rescue not far from where I live and they were able to make room for Dilbert. Dilbert took to them immediately and they fell in love with him so they made him a permanent member of their home. Dilbert has grown into a beautiful, happy, big rat since he's been in his new home. He loves to play and is just a joy to his new parents. Thank you Joe and Lindsay for providing Dilbert with such a wonderful and loving home. UPDATE: 4/7/07 Dilbert crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 3/26/07. He was loved by everyone that met him. I'm so glad Joe and Lindsay were able to give Dilbert such a wonderful life. JOE & LINDSAY: MUCH LOVE TO YOU!! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE FOR ME OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS! This page last updated on April 7, 2007 |
