Welcome to the 44th big issue of Pure Excitement Comics, the Web's longest running Golden Age reprint fanzine! Two of the stories presented in this issue were originally slated to appear on future CD-ROMs, but my wife decided last week that it was time to install OS X on our Mac. As a result, I've been too busy relearning how to use the computer to get around to any new scanning, which means you get to read the origins of both the Lone Warrior and Supermouse. I've also been a bit too busy raising my daughter to produce any new CD-ROMs, so this kind of worked out for the best. Here's an overview of this month's features:

The Lone Warrior

Character(s): The Lone Warrior and Dicky (yes, the "Lone" Warrior had a sidekick!)
Publication: Banner Comics No. 3
Publication Date: September 1941
Publisher: Periodical House, Inc.
Known Appearances: Banner Comics 3-5 and Capt. Courageous Comics no. 6

Character(s): Supermouse
Publication: Coo-Coo Comics No. 1
Publication Date: October 1942
Publisher: Nedor Publishing Co.
Known Appearances: I don't have a reference book for this type of feature, but Supermouse appeared in Coo-Coo Comics no. 1 through around no. 56 (according to Overstreet, the story reprinted here begins the first funny animal super hero series!) and 45 issues (plus two annuals) of his solo series. The character may have appeared in other titles as well, but I don't have that information.
