Welcome to the final Letters Page,
everybody! Here are a couple of great letters I received during the last month:
Good issue, Bill. I had never seen or
even heard of Lone Warrior before, but I found him compelling despite the obvious Captain America
influence. I like the fact that his kid partner was actually his younger brother, which probably
made the story more for me than any other factor.
Zanzibar I have seen before, and I consider him a cut
above most comic book magicians, but I can't say I really want to see him again soon.
The Supermouse story is a little gem.
Thanks, Jon
Jon, I'm glad you enjoyed issue 44 and I hope
this final issue lived up to your expectations. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for
all the great work you've done making the Golden Agers Yahoo Club/Group such a success over the years.
The club has grown beyond just a place to discuss Pure Excitement Comics and it will continue on even
though publication of this book is ceasing.
Hi Bill. I have a history of comic books that Dad sent me
for my birthday in March and was wondering if you have any Miss Fury, The Fin, or Vision (1940's) stories you could put up on your
site. If they aren't owned by anyone that is.
Thanks for listening and hope to hear from you soon.
Erin
Erin, first off, thanks for all the support you have shown the web site. As to
your particular requests, I believe all three characters you mention are not in the public domain, with the possible
exception of Miss Fury. The Fin and the Vision were Timely characters, so Marvel Comics still protects the rights
to those stories. Both were featured in the Golden Age of Marvel Comics trade paperbacks from a few years ago (the Vision
in vol. 1, both characters in vol. 2). Those books are well worth checking out. Miss Fury was originally a newspaper
strip which was reprinted in comic book form by Timely. I believe I've seen a collection or two in the past, but
they are somewhat old and not so easy to come by..
That's it for the letters
page. I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support
they have given me over the years. I'm sorry that I won't be continuing
publication, but I will try to make sure that all the back issues stay online. So long!
