Michael Shawn was a working-class stiff who drove a cab in a large American city. Whenever the need arose, Shawn would don top hat and tails and fight crime as the dapper "Reckoner" with the assistance of his "boy companion" Chipper.

The two "crimebusting friends" possessed no special powers, but were expert fighters.

"The Reckoner & Chipper" also contained limited elements of humor, with the two heroes seemingly in over their heads in many situations. Justice, in one form or another, always prevailed in the end, however.

The Reckoner appeared in Catman Comics 25* & 27-32 and Terrific Comics 5 & 6.
