The story that follows is a 1942 reprinting of the very first Silver Streak story. Since it details the origin of the character, I will not ruin the story in this introduction.

Silver Streak is able to run and fly at super speeds. His sidekick, first known as Mercury and later known as Meteor, was a shoeshine boy by the name of Mickey O'Toole. Mickey was given powers similar to Silver Streak's through an injection of the hero's "secret fluid." Those same fluids were later used to grant super speed powers to a falcon named Zoom, known as "the fastest bird alive."

Silver Streak appeared in Capt. Battle no. 3, Daredevil Battles Hitler no. 1, and Silver Streak Comics 3-19. The character adopted a costume in Silver Streak Comics no. 4. Mercury was introduced in no. 11, and his named changed to Meteor in no. 13.
