The Fighting Yank was Bruce Carter III. He possessed a special cloak which once belonged to his Colonial ancestor, Bruce Carter I. The cloak gave him superhuman strength and invulnerability. However, if things got too bleak for our hero, the spirit of his ancestor would always appear to pull him out of danger's way.

The Fighting Yank utilized his powers to combat a variety of foes, from common criminals to supervillains to enemy agents. The Fighting Yank's constant companion-in-danger was his girlfriend, Joan.

The Fighting Yank appeared in Startling Comics 10-49; America's Best Comics 9, 11, and 13-25; and The Fighting Yank 1-29.
