Fred's first digital camera was a Nikon Coolpix 950 Millennium. Later he bought a Nikon D70s and soon realized how much he missed the sound of an SLR's mirror snapping out of the way. His original kit included two telephoto lenses, a camera bag, and odds and ends. Eventually he bought a Speedlight (Nikon-speak for an external flash), wireless remote, and a fast 50mm fixed lens. During that time he also bought an iMac and learned how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements.
After Fred had owned his DSLR for a few years, he got interested in serious photography again. He also joined the virtual camera club The Digital Story. This page contains his serious pictures as opposed to pictures of the horses, cats, house, landscaping, etc.
Japanese Maple at night in the rain.
Fred stood in the garage to get this picture of a sapling in the new
landscaping.
A couple of weeks later it had rained again, and the maple had lost almost all of its leaves. This time Fred used a flash.
Fred's favorite wet maple two days later, this time in daylight.
A bush loaded down with raindrops. Fred can't wait to try this after the temperature gets below freezing.
A nandina with a crop of bright red berries.
