Catherine's flute class

The main draw for us was the chance to study flute again with Catherine McEvoy (front row, left) -- our third time to do so.  In addition to being one of the best Irish flute players of our time, Catherine is an excellent teacher, and a lot of fun!   She even made us tea mid-way through every class session!   Thanks to Bridget Fitzgerald for snapping this shot of, as Catherine puts it, "all those mad flute players," and thanks to Dave Wells for doing some judicious editing--click here to see the "before" and "after" shots.

In addition to teaching tunes by ear, Catherine writes them out on the board using an alphabetic notation system.  Becky took shots of most of them with her digital camera, and we're including them here for the benefit of those in class who didn't have the chance to write them down themselves, or who might have missed one or two.  They're likely to be unintelligible to everyone else!  No thumbnails...just click on the tune title to get to a full-sized image of the blackboard shot.
