Friday Harbor Irish Music Camp

March 24-29, 2003

Paul and Becky's Web Scrapbook

This year was the second annual Friday Harbor Irish Music Camp, on San Juan Island off the coast of Washington.  This is one of the islands in the group collectively known as the San Juans, and is about as far northwest as you can go in the continental U.S.  We--Paul Wells and Rebecca Deryckx--had gone last year to the inaugural event and had such a great time that we both decided to go back for more this year.  This is in Becky's back yard, so to speak, but Paul has to trek out from Tennessee. The camp is held at the University of Washington's Friday Harbor marine science lab, a short distance from the town of Friday Harbor.  It was fabulous to spend a week in a lovely setting, immersed in great music and surrounded by good friends!  Thanks to Dan Paulson and Randal Bays and their crew of volunteers for organizing a wonderful event.

When we weren't playing flute, we both shot a lot of photos during the week.  Once we figured out that our coverage mostly dovetailed, rather than overlapped, we decided to pool our efforts and cooperate on a joint offering of a small selection of our shots for your dining and dancing pleasure.  Paul took the ones of  Skagit Valley, the session, the ceili, and the departure, while Becky took all the photos of the concert and of the tunes that Catherine McEvoy taught in her flute class.  Paul did site design, such as it is.  Feel free to e-mail us with comments or complaints: Paul,Becky.
