ABOUT US

The idea for Smart Start Toys was conceived during the Christmas season in 2007 when I was gift-shopping for my then 3-year-old daughter. The majority of "girl" toys I found at big box stores, where most people do their toy shopping, were pink and plastic and conveyed societal and gender messages that I wasn't ready for my daughter to be subjected to yet. I wanted to find toys that were safe, well-designed and manufactured (hopefully with renewable resources), durable, a good value, and, above all, helped her to learn, be creative, have an open mind, and did not force her into gender roles. I was well-acquainted with Melissa & Doug toys but when I checked out their complete product line, I was astounded at all the wonderful toys they offer that I had never seen in stores, or even online. I decided to bring these toys to local moms via home parties and, eventually, to the internet, for all the parents like me who are seeking toys that are better for their children and better for our planet, too.

Smart Start Toys currently offers the complete Melissa & Doug product line and we hope to add more carefully-selected product lines soon. We are also looking to add entrepreneurial sales consultants nationwide.
