The Locked Box

There is a box within a box
With golden keys to its many locks
Protected by a curious lid,
Tangled chains and secrets hid.

It taunts childish curiosity
Dangling forth its golden key.
Eager hands grab the shiny thing
Heedless of sorrows it may bring.

Foolishly, we want to peek,
Not knowing what it is we seek.
But the locks upon locks intertwine
Leaving prying eyes still blind.
