Although the
cottage's surroundings are quiet and peaceful, there are many activities nearby. The
peninsula is surrounded by tidal flats, excellent for fishing, clamming, and
bird-watching. Wooded paths lace the area, some of which lead to Wolfe's Neck State Park on
the neighboring peninsula. Other nearby peninsulas contain a bird sanctuary, parks, and a
variety of restaurants. Quaint South Freeport Harbor runs a small ferry to nearby Bustins Island, where you can order lobsters and corn on the cob at a family-run restaurant. Take day cruises to watch for seals, ospreys, and lobster fishing demonstrations. Freeport itself offers a shopper's paradise, with numerous factory outlets including Brooks Brothers, Calvin Klein, J. Crew, Coach, Donna Karan, Mikasa, Gap, Banana Republic, Polo - Ralph Lauren, Patagonia, and L.L. Bean. You can also visit the home store of L.L. Bean, Freeport's landmark shop.
