In
Memory
He was there on the wall,
His name chiseled and small,
Such a small token for such a
large price;
But still, it was nice,
A remembrance.
I rubbed a deep letter,
And wondered if I was better
From the hole that he left in
my life;
It cut like a knife,
That memory.
He was my brother,
A friend like no other,
Of my family, my flesh and my
bone,
And now gone-
Just a memory.
And I vowed in my heart,
Though eternally apart,
That his gift, his life and
his name
In that stony frame,
I would remember.
