The Western Maryland Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society is a non-profit organization chartered to promote the appreciation of rail transportation and its heritage through historical preservation and public education. The Chapter's primary focus is upon the history of railroads and rail transit lines that have operated in the Western Maryland region and adjacent parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The Chapter maintains a collection of historic railroad artifacts, documents, maps and photographs that date from 1844 to the present. Membership is open to all who share our interest. Meetings are usually held on the third Thursday of each month, in Cumberland.
