What a surprise we had last Friday, when our Middle School Supervisor asked the VO Jazz Band and Ensemble to fill in for another school who had committed to present an hour concert for a cultural event at Lincoln Oval Park, but were unable to perform!  With less than 24 hours to put together a 30 minute choral gig, and no accompanist (Mrs. Mattoon had to be out of town), we "GOT HER DONE!"  Fortunately, Mrs. Bonnar, accompanist for COS and Bronco mom, was able to fill in for Mrs. M.  We contacted as many parents as possible, and fielded an Ensemble of 20 singers!  Not the greatest of outdoor sound systems, but the students sang with gusto and sensitivity.  Kudos go to our soloists:

  1. J. Anguiano
  2. E. Marquez
  3. K. Kugler
  4. J. Souza

Thank you to all the kids who gave up a large part of their Saturday afternoon to sing for the community.  You ROCK!

The choir had a really great time singing with the VUMC adult choir on Sat. So many moving moments during the program, it would be hard to name the most touching.  Thank you to all the students ... but especially to the Rachal family - who manned the water station.  They set it up and kept it going ALL DAY!  Thanks to the students who helped sell water, eat watermellon, and drink root beer.  You kids all ROCK.  Great solo by Nathan Y.  Oh my, can you ever SCAT.

SUMMER VACATION
06/22/2009

Even though summer vacation is here we are still performing!  Valley Oak Choir has been asked to sing at the Citywide Patriotic Celebration, the Saturday before July 4th.  Come and hear us at Visalia United Methodist Church.  We will be singing around 11:30 and selling water as a fundraiser until 4:00.  Have a safe and sane holiday.
