I have lived in Montgomery County for most of my life and have owned a home in Woodside, North Silver Spring, for the last 21 years. I commuted to work by bike for most of my career, and continue to have a strong interest in purposeful and recreational cycling.

I have served as a bicycling advocate on the Transportation Committee of the Silver Spring Regional Advisory Board, on the Master Plan Advisory Group for the North Silver Spring Master Plan, and on the Citizens Advisory Group for the M-NCPPC Capital Crescent/Metbranch Trail Facility Plan. I served as the Chair of the Coalition for the Capital Crescent Trail (CCCT) for three years and continue to serve on the board as Treasurer and volunteer webmaster. I am a member of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA).

Bicycling has long been important to me as an alternative to being stuck in traffic. As the traffic congestion continues to get worse in my community I see an increasing need for better public transit, especially transit that is compatible with cycling for mixed-mode trips. In 2007 I became a Board Member and Treasurer of Purple Line Now (PLN) and also am now a member of Action Committee for Transit (ACT).

I do not expect everyone to share my perspective on trail issues - especially regarding the very controversial Purple Line transit/trail project. I try to give sources for the information I present, so you can check the facts for yourself.

Please feel free to send an email if you have questions or comments.
