Make Your Own Ghost Marionette!
You will need:
- An Adult's Help
- A Paper Cup (or other disposable cup)
- A piece of black string (about 6 foot)
- A Large Bead
- A piece of cloth about 1 foot square (the color of the cloth will be the color of your ghost)
- 2 jumbo craft sticks
- Strong masking tape
- Trimmings
- Small amount of velcrow (optional)
1.
Carefully make a hole in the bottom of your cup. You can use a pencil or other sharp object.
2.
If you want a more durable ghost you may use a tin can. BE CAREFUL OF SHARP EDGES! Placing duct tape over all sharp edges can help protect young fingers. The fastest way for an adult to make a hole in the bottom of the can is with a hammer and nail. The fastest way for a child to make a hole in the bottom of the can is to get an adult.
3.
Tie the large bead to the end of about half of the black cord.
4.
Thread beaded cord through top of the cup and out the hole at the bottom.
5.
If done right, you should now be able to hold the string and the cup will dangle from it.
6.
Cut a very small circle in the center of your piece of cloth just large enough to fit the string through.
7.
Put the string through the hole in your cloth so that the fabric is draped over your can.
8.
Take 1 tongue depressor and tie the top of your black cord to the center.
9.
Tape over the place where you tied your black cord to make it more secure.
10. Optional:
Attach one half of a Velcro dot to one end of the tied tongue depressor, and the other half to the center of the loose tongue depressor.
11.
Pull one corner of the cloth away from the center of your ghost.
12.
Snip 2 small holes in the the corner of the fabric.
13.
Tie the rest of the black cord to the holes you've just made.
14.
Tie other end of black cord to second tongue depressor.
15.
Tape over your knot on the second tongue depressor.
16.
Your ghost should look something like the one in the picture.
17.
Use various materials to create a face for your ghost.
18. Tip:
You can use glow-in-the-dark paint to make your ghost's eyes glow.
19.
Large paperclips are a great way to hang your ghost. (It is less likely to tangle when hanging.)
