The Widow's Daughter

In this Irish folktale a young woman's mother tells a small lie to impress the Queen. Believing the woman to be an expert seamstress the Queen decides the girl would be an excellent match for her son. Our heroine reluctantly goes to meet the prince dreading an unwanted marriage, but when the two see each other they fall madly in love. Things are looking great for everyone until the Queen orders the young woman to demonstrate her sewing skills. How can she possibly marry the prince once her mother's lie is discovered? She has never even held a needle! The answer lies with three unusual visitors.

Themes: Middle Ages; castles; royalty; how clothes are made.

Requirements:

LIGHTING: This black light puppet show needs a space that can be darkened. The darker the space the more vivid the puppets will be. However, this show also works as a non black light show so even in a brightly lit room the show can go on. If you are not sure if your room is dark enough and you specifically want the black light version please contact me, I may be able to help you find ways around the need for black out.

AREA: The room must be reasonably free of clutter as this can become a hazard in a dark room. One 6 foot (or larger) rectangular table will be needed to act as the stage.

POWER: Electrical outlets must be in close proximity to the performance area.

SET UP TIME: 1 hour prior to admitting the audience.

DISMANTLING TIME: 45 minutes after the audience has left.

AUDIENCE SIZE: I recommend no more than 120 people at a time but this is flexible. Discounts are available for shows booked for the same day and same location.
