Pizzicato Puppets does puppetry workshops from the simplest stick puppets to larger-than-life, parade-style puppets covering all ages and most budgets. Workshops can be adjusted to compliment themes or curriculum for your library, school or business. They can also be created around materials you have at hand to save you money. The basic workshops usually last about one hour, but we have sequential programs with participants returning each day during one week or one day a week for several weeks to build and perform their own shows in more depth. We are always willing to stay longer for the more precise participants who require extra time if our schedule permits.

Some of the many workshops include:
Shadow Puppets
In this one hour workshop, participants learn how to create their own shadow puppet play and make a puppet to keep. Beginners, intermediate and advanced classes available. Ages 7 to adult. Take a look at one of our Shadow Puppet workshops for kids.
Rod Puppets
These rod puppets are simple to build but provide a lot of play and performance time. With the workshop shown here, participants leave with puppets that have been known to last over 15 years. Ages 7 and up.
Puppets for the Little Ones
We offer a variety of puppet workshops for pre-school through first grade including: Aquarium Pop-up Puppets and Princess Puppets
Family Puppet Theaters
Families work together to create a table-top puppet stage like this; then each family member makes a puppet of his or her own. This is a big hit every time. Ages 6 and up.
Tabletop Bunraku
This is a more in depth class that can be done simply to build the puppets or as part of a performance workshop. Recommended for Ages 9 and above. This picture was taken during a rehearsal for a Tabletop Bunraku show.
Ghost Marionettes An introduction to marionettes, this workshop is recommended for 6th grade and above.
Dancing Alien Marionettes This challenging workshop, for 6th grade and above, teaches marionette construction and operation at an intermediate level.
How to Teach Puppetry
This four-hour workshop teaches educators about different types of puppetry from around the world. This is followed by performance tips and techniques and, finally, three different puppet building workshops that you will be able to teach even on a tight budget.
