My Cabinets
Here are some of my cabinets I've used a lot of Combos but in the end I find my preference is with a Head and Cab. Why? Because ultimately I feel you can do more with a Head and Cab, matching things up and creating better tone. One draw back more stuff to carry! However most Combo amps are incredibly heavy, the one exception that sounded great still are the Alessandro Working Dog Series Burt V2X10 Mad Sound 1x10 Detuned Holland 2X12 Bogner 1x12 Cub So far I've had 5 different cabs. I have the 2x12 left. I prefer the 12" speaker sound as well as the 2x12 sound over anything else so far. The Bogner cube to me was a disappointment, I had heard another that sounded great, but this one sounded modern but just not very full, balanced or good, again I heard a great one before getting this one, this one just somehow didn't have it. BTW I just figured out it might because the cube I had contained a V30 vs. V80. I tend to like more headroom and I don't like speaker compression/overdrive that much. I loved the 2x10 Burt cab as well as the 1x10 Detuned Mad Sound cab. The Burt being a 2x10 with a V setup has good diffusion but still needs some space to project well. It has nice and tight sound, great for OD and Metal. But a nice pleasing clean as well. The 1x10 Detuned is in a league by itself. The Detuned design gives it some natural reverb, great deep low end. A lot of sound diffusion. You need to turn the lows down a little because else it can be overpowering. Sean Fokes of Mad Sound and Bob Burt of Burt Cabinets make some awesome cabinets. My ToneTools Fat Cat 1x12 is here! Check it out. I've loaded it with a Scumbag 12SA-75HP-8Ohm-60W speaker. I love these speakers, used one in my Louis KR-12M and it was awesome in that combo. End result? Pretty with Killer Tone! Click pictures to Supersize |
