Parents for Band Meeting Minutes

October 13,2010

Fundraising:  Results for Meadow Farms was okay-not as good as other years.

Results for Yankee Candle Performing Arts were good-$5285 sold which gives us $2100 towards the auditorium renovation.  Plans are in the works for a dance to benefit the band account in November and baskets to be raffled at the Holiday Concert in December.

Fall Concert:  Wednesday November 3 at 7PM.  Students need to be there at 6PM for set-up.  Dress is white shirt and black bottoms for everyone and a tie for the boys.  Please bring a baked good for the bake sale that benefits the Pam Stewart Scholarship given every graduation to a deserving band student.

All State Music Festival:  This is a BIG event and we need your help!  The festival will be held at BFA and Collins-Perley  May 4-7, 2011, with approximately 450 kids from around the state participating in.  There are many committees being set-up and we need volunteers to help with:

Housing – Armand Messier will be setting up a website for host families to sign up and this committee will help manage the placement of students with families, connecting students and families at the festival, answering questions from host families and solving issues with placement as they arise.

Program -   BFA faculty member, Bob Crawford, has volunteered to oversee the printing and creation of the program but we need to people to solicit ads.  This could be a substantial fundraiser once costs are covered.

Facilities -   Eric Bushey and Armand Messier will oversee the set-up of rehearsal spaces but we need people to help assist in a myriad of ways during the festival.

Tickets -   Tickets will be available via mail order prior to the festival.  We will need help selling tickets at the door for Thursday, Friday and SaturdayÕs performances.

Parade – Frank Mehaffey (City School Music Director) and Joanne Scott (Fairfield Elementary Music Director) will be organizing this and will need lots of help with this aspect of the festival.

Registration – Prior to the festival we will be filling packets for the directors and students with name tags, pencils, schedules, etc for each school.   We will most likely have a ÒStuffing PartyÓ to get this task done. We will need someone to help with registration on Thursday morning.

Promotion -   This committee will assist with posters, radio ads, newspaper articles, etc to help make the community aware of the parade and concerts.

Ushers -  We will need people to help usher at all three concerts.

We are very fortunate to have had many people offer to chair or help with these committees but we need YOU!  Please consider how you can help with this event and contact Eric Bushey at ebushey@bfasta.net or Rosemary Riel at riel_ca@comcast.net

Next Meeting:  Wednesday November 10 at 6PM across from the gym.
