I mean, it would be so much more practical and intellectually consistent to pray to an entirely different god, for instance Mars. Have I got it wrong? I think Mohammed would have liked Mars a lot, if he had given Mars a chance. After all, Mohammed liked to start wars, he started 82 of them against the infidels. And guess what? Mars is the god of war. What a coincidence! But Mohammed didn't embrace Mars. It's so ironic. Instead he embraced a highly judgemental, punishment-crazy Jewish god, whose personality is oddly very much like that of Adolf Hitler. (That's another irony worth savoring.) Punish, punish, punish. Scapegoat, scapegoat. That's the Jews' god in a nutshell. And that's what Mohammed subscribed to as well. Heck, Mohammy bought the season pass! Makes you wonder. I mean, was Mohammed a masochist? Seems like it. Let's look at the situation:
You say he was unfamiliar? Wrong. It wasn't like he had never heard of these better gods. Remember, one of the shorter-lived Roman emporers was in fact an Arab. Check your encyclopedia. So don't tell me Mohammy never heard of Zeus, by Zeus! No, this Mohammed was simply a disturbed man. Eighty-two wars against people who happened to not believe like he did. Talk about an obsession with getting the final word! And what were those wars for? To make his victims bow to the god of fifty lashes and a a lifetime of submission. Oh, and what does the word Islam mean? It means "submission". To call a severe, punishing religion "submisssion" a very bad joke by a humorless man. Still, even Mars would have grinned.
