Evidence Showing That The USA Is Becoming A Police State

There's a lot of evidence piling up that Bush and company are pushing hard to use 9/11, which the evidence shows they helped perpetrate, to transform the USA into a brutal dictatorial police state. They might even attempt to merge the USA with Canada and Mexico into a superstate -- a kind of North American Union -- in which the US Constitution will be null and void. Following Hitler's example, Bush is perpetrating much of his power-grabbing quietly, if not in secret. He is taking over little by little and there is no sign that he will stop, indeed it appears he seeks total control.

Profile of a Totalitarian Police State vs. USA

What are the characteristics of a totalitarian police state? Does the USA fit that profile, or is it moving in that direction? Let's review the situation.

Totalitarian Police State USA
Anything that threatens the oppressive state is attacked, even people who talk about the idea of protecting our liberties. House bill HR1955 entitled "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act" passed in October 2007 with 400 votes to 6. It casts a harsh and paranoid view of people seeking to protect the US Constitution, miscontruing them as violent and radical. It refers to the Internet as providing "broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda in the United States." According to this bill's writers definition of terrorism, so does the American Declaration of Independence. Sources:

An activist was arrested in Washington DC for reading the US Constitution aloud in public. PrisonPlanet story 2007-10-02.

Any attempt to keep secrets from the State will result in jail and/or torture. While we in the USA still have a right to privacy, in the UK this is no longer the case. If the UK government demands that you provide the key to your encrypted data and you don't give it, you go to jail. ArsTechnica story 2007-10-01.
The Leader can use troops (not police) to suppress public demonstrations. Bush can now do this due to the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007. TowardFreedom story.
The Leader's fascist goons will condemn democracy and argue that the Leader should be made "president for life". The organization Family Security Matters, sometimes featured on Fox News, recently posted a column by Philip Atkinson in which he presented precisely that fascistic argument. It was discovered by web surfers and posted to populist news sites Digg, Reddit, Muvy.org and the like. In response, FSM quickly removed the article. It was then revealed that FSM is a front group for a thinktank called Center for Security Policy whose operatives include the infamous Dov Zakheim who presided over the disappearance of $1 trillion at the Pentagon. Investigation of that loss was halted when on 9/11 something hit the Pentagon, precisely at the office that was charged with looking into that disappearance. The hole in the Pentagon from the object that hit it is far too small for an airliner but looks suspiciously like those made by cruise missiles. Black box data from Flight 77 show that the airliner flew over the Pentagon (see here).

The Leader rules by decree or by the A-OK of a rubber-stamp Congress. The rubber-stamp legislature always acts to protect the Leader. This is the classic feature of a dictatorship, and now America as well.

The Leader's henchmen begin publicly advocating and hoping for "another 9/11" to build support for the Leader and to give him a chance to declare martial law & dictatorship.
"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and then denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Hermann Goering
German Nazi marshal & politician (1893 - 1946)

A mountain of evidence shows that 9/11 was perpetrated by criminal elements in the US government, presumably to help the Neoconservatives set up their world empire that they drone on about on their website. But 9/11 was of course all according to a typical plan employed by dictators. They routinely stage attacks and blame them on outsiders to build public unity and increase their own power over the public.

  • Philadelphia Daily News columnist Stu Bykofsky said that to "save" America, we need another 9/11. PhillyNews column.
  • Pennsylvania former Senator Rick Santorum spilled the beans about a series of upcoming false flag terror attacks by the USA against Americans. A series of "unfortunate events" will before November, he said, that will bolster support for the war. Information Liberation story.

The Leader and his henchmen must never subjected to criminal prosecution or otherwise held accountable for their crimes. Condi Rice committed treason by sharing state secrets with Israel but she'll go Scot free for sure. Pitt Law's Jurist story 2007-10-30.

George Bush has permitted his convicted henchman Lewis Scooter Libby to avoid prison and has threatened to pardon him.

Bush and Cheney committed numerous felonies before spying on Americans was legalized by the rubber-stamp Congress. They should be impeached, tried, and incarcerated.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who has been caught lying to Congress, seems to be getting away with his crime.

Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has shown her malfeasance by refusing to impeach Bush or subject him to investigations, despite his many criminal acts. Thus she is allowing him to continue in his criminality and build his police state. Youtube clip.

The Leader declares that he will become dictator -- as soon as he can. Bush has laid out the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive which says that in another national emergency he will act as dictator. The problem is, the evidence shows it is Bush and company who are behind the terrorist attacks of 9/11. His henchmen have promised another "series of attacks" soon. RogueGovernment blog story.
You can't travel freely within the country. Over 100,000 Americans have been put on terrorist "watch lists" and thereby prevented from travelling freely on airplanes. AfterDowningStreet mention.
You can't enter or leave the country without permission. All police states have either the concept of an explicit "exit visa" or they indirectly prevent citizens from leaving. Exit from the US to Canada has been limited by the FBI when they deliberately put anti-war protestors identifying information in the international criminal database, barring them from entering Canada. The government will train key members of the community to help control the masses during martial law and act as government spies. Concentration camps are secretly set up to incarcerate large numbers of people. The media dutifully keep quiet about the camps. Beginning in the 1970's during Jimmy Carter's administration, the Army began setting up at least 50 concentration camps officially called Civilian Internment Camps around the USA. Of course, we are already familiar with the World War II internment of Japanese, but this might be called a revival or expansion of the idea. Citizens are stripped of basic rights. Bush has removed the 5th Amendment to the Constitution. Tribe.net commentary.

Most or all of the Constitution's Amendments have been nullified by the USA/PATRIOT acts I and II, under the pretext that some citizens might be terrorists. The evidence however shows that it was probably criminal elements in the US government under the supervision the Bush Administration that perpetrated the 9/11 attacks, explained here. (Even if only a scrap of evidence points to this conclusion (hundreds of such scraps do), it should be a cause for alarm given the draconian nature of anti-terror laws.)

The Regime pins the label of "terrorist" on any person who disagrees with them or who questions the corporations or key players that support the fascist state.
  • Speaking of key players, Larry Silverstein was instrumental in making 9/11 possible, because it was his buildings at the World Trade Center that were rigged with explosives to make the controlled demolition possible. (See here.)

So when an activist from WeAreChange held a sign outside Silverstein's offices drawing attention to Larry's involvement in 9/11, cops deliberately invented the idea he might have a bomb in order to arrest him. JonesReport story.

  • Members of the group Earth Liberation Front (ELF) found themselves being accused of being terrorists merely for the crime of arson, and despite the fact that the public could not even remotely feel terrorized by the defendants' private acts of misguided vandalism. Tri-City Herald story.
Road blocks for inspections everywhere. Not happening everywhere in the USA yet, but they're testing roadblocks in Texas as documented by activists, and I have seen them in New Mexico and there is a well-known roadblock between LA and San diego in southern California ostensibly to catch illegal aliens. Watch this video.

Colorado motorists were outraged that at a highway checkpoint, a private company was demanding blood and saliva samples. WorldNetDaily story.

In addition, some have alleged that drunk driving checkpoints are being used to perform bogus arrests and illegal searches of vehicles.

Guns will be confiscated, since an armed citizenry is a risk to dictatorial rule. The criminal Administration will use deadly force if necessary to remove guns. In New Orleans, it seems this has already happened. Video of old white woman being attacked by cops who want her gun.
Everything you do online will be tracked. The FBI has been caught sending out illegal, fake "emergency letters" to induce ISPs to hand over information about their users. Don't expect anyone to hold them accountable, though. Inquirer story.

The GOP wanted ISPs to retain information about everything you do online, calling the plan the SAFETY Act (HR 599), under the false guise of protecting children from predators or some such nonsense. It seems to have passed. CNET story.

A national ID card will be required that will assist the Regime in tracking you wherever you go. Police can demand to see it whenever they like. In the USA, the government's Real ID Act of 2005 will force a national ID upon states and many mundane activities may require showing an ID, because everything you do will be tracked. (Credit cards and cell phones are also potential tracking devices.) Cards will be mandatory as of 2008 and linked to international databases.

(In the UK, the national ID scheme is being opposed by activists and by about half of the population. Not getting one incurs a massive fine. Not paying that fine gets you prison. When you get the card, you have to provide lots of personal details.)

Thoughts become crimes. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has proposed a new Orwellian thought crimes law that criminalizes the undetectable intent to copy a CD or DVD or download a song. AmericaBlog story May 2007.
Everywhere you go, you will be tracked. The FBI can now use your cell phone to silently listen to your conversations even when you aren't using the phone. CNet story.

Attempts to investigate government wrongdoing are systematically thwarted. The CIA's directory expressed an intent to thwart the CIA's internal watchdog, who has been investigating torture allegations. New York Times story 2007-10-11.

Recently the Bush Administration fired or forced the resignations of several US Attorneys who were investigating wrongdoing by Republicans. RawStory article. This has led to calls for Alberto Gonzales' resignation, although some believe Karl Rove led the operation.

US courts have refused to hear the case of the German citizen Khaled el-Masri who was the victim of extraordinary rendition and was tortured by the CIA. The reason? "National security". Yahoo story.

They monitor your library records for books or videos they don't like, and allies of the Regime keep watch of your books as well. The USA Patriot Act Reauthorization 2005 (HR 3199) allows this.

Two Connecticut librarians were issued a gag order in the form of a "national security letter". Wired article.

A Philadelphia man was prevented from boarding a plane because of a book he was reading, entitled "Hayduke Lives". City Paper story.

The right to a fair trial will be removed. Habeas Corpus, which has been a foundation of Western law for 800 years, has been overturned by Bush and his lackeys in Congress, in the form of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 (S.3930).

Alberto Gonzales has now declared that the US Constitution does not say that every US citizen has the right to Habeas Corpus. But this is wrong because the Constitution specifically says "The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it." This clearly implies we have the right.

  • Video of the tense exchange between Arlen Spector & Gonzales.
  • DailyKos link.
  • Habeas Corpus ensures that a person can see and contest the evidence against him. (Its Latin name literally means "thou hast the body".)

Extremely minor things that suggest threats to the Leader will be treated very seriously, and the lapdog media are quick to publicize this fact in order to condition the masses to fear the Leader and never question him. A man from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania merely ended a "letter to the editor" to the Express-Times of Easton, Pa. about Saddam Hussein with the suggestion that the wrong man was hanged, not specifying who the correct man to hang might be and this prompted the Secret Service to visit him on the suspicion that he meant Bush. Clipmarks story.
Kangaroo courts are established to kill off anyone the government doesn't like. The Department of Defense has said that "enemy combatants", which is a new term meaning "anyone the Regime doesn't like" that can include any citizen, may now be tried, convicted and executed based on

    • coerced testimony
and the DoD has declared that this is "fair". IHT story.

Police in riot gear arrest protesters en masse, treated brutally and jailed in dangerous, hazardous environments. This has happened several times in New York City and police there continue their abuses. The first time was during the Republican National Convention in 2004, and mass arrests since then have involved Critical Mass, as documented in the film Still We Ride.

Christian protesters against the Iraq war were arrested by the hundreds. MSNBC mention.

Elizabeth Ritter, an attorney, was shot by police with rubber bullets deliberately in Miami, Florida at an anti-FTAA protest. First they shot her in the back and leg when she turned away, then after they shot through her sign and hit her in the forehead. Then, the low-IQ cops grunt, snicker and make "hoo hoo" sounds about it other afterwards on TV. Later the mayor said he stood by the cops' behavior. CNN video. GNN story, August 2006.

The power of the Leader(s) must be expanded until absolute. Therefore they continually claim that the Leader(s) have such absolute power. Alberto Gonzales has declared that federal judges are unfit to rule on terror policy. MSNBC story.

The State will keep dossiers on citizens and invade their privacy. The Department of Public Safety is doing this. Infowars story.
Whistleblowers inside the government will be persecuted for being so foolish as trying to hold the fascists to account. Military whiteblowers are being eliminated. Forbes article 2007-08-24
Electronic surveillance of communications: All communications can be monitored without need for a proper warrant. The police state is free to wiretap anyone and their true intention is not to limit monitoring to external enemies. The NSA's secret spying program began many months before 9/11, suggesting that the police state was planned in advance of 9/11. Given that a mountain of evidence shows the government was the main actor in perpetrating the attacks of 9/11, this can be seen as more proof of Bush's intent to move the US to being a fascist state. The property of the major corporations that back the Regime becomes sacrosanct (even if that property is stolen or obtained through deceit). CNET story.
Torture is allowed (of its own citizens and internationally) and former torturers are given amnesty. The Leader shows a preference for torture, and tells gullible legislators he is against it while he continues to do it. Bush has been exposed as having lied to Congress (which is a felony) when he said he was against torture and intending to stop it, when all along he was quietly ordering it to continue. The Seminal story 2007-10-08.

American resident Majid Khan has been held at Guantanamo and says he has been extensively tortured by the military and CIA. MSNBC story.

The Bush Administration has been arguing they can torture terror suspects for some time now, for instance at Abu Graib prison and at Guantanamo. But thishas now been made legal due to the Military Commissions Act of 2006, and past torture is deemed to have been legal. ZMag story.

Political speech is illegal or impossible. On 1/18/07, the Senate passed the infamous S.1 bill, to which Zionist Joseph Lieberman had added a certain section 220, the purpose of which was to vastly expand the category of political speakers to include anyone who speaks to over 500 people and is paid more than a few tens of thousands of dollars. Police are militarized, meaning they receive military gear and training. Some even have tanks. This is a well-documented trend in US law enforcement that is very disturbing. While cops explain that they have reason to be gearing up, for instance because of gangs, it increasingly seems that gangs are not the real target but rather innocent people are.

Testimony before Congress about militarization of police by Radley Balko is at Reason magazine.

    Paramilitary drug raids

In case after case, SWAT teams have been called in to break down doors in early morning drug raids, often breaking down the wrong doors and injuring or even killing innocent people. All too often the police act on bogus tips from highly suspect informants.

    Examples:

    • A raid was performed at the wrong address, and the cops threatened to kill their victims. FreeStudents blog mention.

Mass mind-control is commonplace. Efforts to control of Americans' minds began long ago due to the work of Edward Bernays, who was the nephew of Sigmund Freud. This is very well explained in the BBC documentary Century of the Self by Adam Curtis:
The Fuehrer's supporters gets luxury treatment. Since the new fascism is apparently Jewish- or Israeli-led, and many Neoconservatives are Zionist Jews, it is appropriate that Jewish firms should get a windfall. And the evidence says they are getting 80% of Department of Homeland Security's "security grants". Haaretz commentary 2007-10-07.
The Leader declares himself above the law. The Leader will ignore laws and court rulings that he doesn't like. According to some, Bush has actually said this very thing, and on some occassions has said that if Congress doesn't do his will, he will implement his plans anyway.

Bush has ignored a recent court ruling stating that he does not having the power to conduct warrantless surveillance of US citizens and now says he does. NY Times story dated May 2, 2007.

Senator Dick Durbin has criticized Cheney for acting like he is above the law. CrooksAndLiars blog mention.

The government clamps down on what the free press can print. Bush has prevented the New York Times from printing a complete version of a commentary about Iran by an intelligence worker, despite that document having been cleared as not sensitive by the CIA. NYT story.
Police arrest journalists who ask the wrong questions. Reporter Matt Lepacek was arrested for politely asking Rudy Giuliani a question about his role on 9/11. PrisonPlanet article June 2007.
The government clamps down on what you can say in public venues. Activist "Reverend Billy" was arrested in New York City for reciting the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution in the presence of NYPD officers. Gothamist blog mention.
A plan is hatched to round up all dissidents and incarcertate or eliminate them. Operation FALCON appears to be that plan. At first it was about rounding up gang members and Internet predators. People increasingly suspect it is for much more than that. Sources:

The government clamps down on buskers i.e. street musicians. A flutist and a singer were arrested for performing street music in Philadelphia. MSNBC story.
The Leader's scapegoats are treated poorly but their defenders are also hounded. We all know about the torture at Guantanamo and Abu Graib, but now the US general who is in charge of Guantamano is publicly attacking the lawyers of detainees. WSWS story.
Any information that might harm the Dictator is made a state secret and everyone is forbidden to speak it or print it, on pain of serious punishment. The Bush administration has consistently made classified any information that might harm it, especially information that is evidence of extreme illegaility or otherwise wrongdoing by the administration. Slate mention.
The government clamps down on what scientists can say in public. The Bush administration has created new rules to prevent USGS scientists from talking about global warming, which the oil industry doesn't want the public to think is a real problem. Washington Post 12/13/06 story.
The number of police officers is expanded drastically while the rules for their conduct are forgotten. All over the USA, regular unskilled security guards are being given full police authority despite their lack of training or professionalism. This is deemed necessary because of crime, even though crime rates have not increased and are actually down. Perhaps a secondary reason for it is terrorism, but that's bogus of course.

By giving lowly security guards the same authority to arrest and search as cops, but none of the responsibilities to uphold the Constitution, we can see the direction that the police state is taking: it is becoming a private, corporate police state.

Elections will be rigged and most politicians will not bother to take notice, nor will the media. The rigging of the 2004 elections was widely covered on the Web and by local news agencies in Ohio, and indeed the House Judiciary Committee even produced a 100 page report on what went wrong in Ohio, after the election and during the recount. Yet who, besides Keith Obermann fans heard about either the rigging or the report from most politicians or the national media?

Finally we are seeing some court cases about the rigging. AP story.

During the 2000 election, as investigative journalist Greg Palast showed, tens of thousands of Floridians were illegally dropped from the voting roles, which meant that the popular vote went to Bush. People went to vote as always, but were told wrongly that they were dropped on suspicion of being felons. Who was behind this fraud? George W Bush's brother, Jeb Bush. Greg Palast story. Brad Blog. Black Box Voting.

During the 2004 election, the Florida situation stood, even though a court told Jeb Bush to reinstate the illegally barred voters.

It was only in 2006 that the unreliable and easily tampered-with electronic voting machines and computer vote tabulation software registered with the national media, and Diebold became familiar to politically astute members of the public because of continual problems with their machines.

Did this change anything? No. Because both major parties stand to gain from election rigging.

Top leaders begin inventing new titles for themselves. Cheney has said he no longer wants to be referred to as the Vice President but rather using the mysterious name "Senior Administration Official." Frameshop story.
The government simply ignores democratic laws on the books, and checks on power, because it plans to eliminate them along with any other vestiges of democracy. The Bush Administration has been ignoring US laws including the Constitution, it seems, from day 1.

Consider the plan to bring about the NAU or North American Union. Activists have had to use Freedom of Information Act requests to learn about it, because the media are turning a blind eye and the Congress hasn't even heard about it. NAU is initially called the SPP, or Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America.

    School and university massacres

The tragedy at Virginia Tech was certainly a real event, but came about in large part due to the FBI's having told the cops to "stand down" after the first two shootings happened. Without that order, probably 90% of the deaths could have been avoided. Amazing but true. VA Tech was a let-it-happen-on-purpose (LIHOP) tragedy. In a community college in Media, Pennsylvania (DCCC) administrators went bonkers when they received anonymous threatening emails and shut the school down. The email threats said violence would occur on certain days at certain campuses. Reality check: If you were going to, let's say, rob a bank, would you tell multiple people at the bank in advance when you were going to show up? No. More than likely the emails were sent by the government in order to scare or scapegoat people. DCCC has many poor student and Muslim students. Phoenixville News story.

Those who criticize the Leader will be singled out for harrassment. It is said that many who have criticized Bush have found themselves on "No Fly" or "Terrorist Watch" lists, prevented from boarding airplanes. Example:
A Princeton University professor emeritus found out he couldn't fly because he was on a Terrorist Watch List. Blog mention.
The government will be exposed as engaging in deliberate, and often expensive propagandizing and misinformation at the expense of taxpayers. Bush has spent $1.6 billion on propaganda inside the USA targeting the minds of Americans. This "prepackaged news" is illegal. Every act of misusing taxpayer money to produce and distribute it is a felony. Source: Washington Post story.

It has recently been revealed thanks to the work of Virgil Griffith of the Santa Fe Institute in New Mexico that the CIA, FBI, and unethically-tainted companies such as Diebold and Fox News have been editing Wikipedia entries to reflect their political agendas.
