Description
The Conemaugh Generating Station is owned by Reliant
Resources.
It is primarily a coal-fired polluting power plant in western Pennsylvania
near New Florence in Indiana County.
Its power output is 1700 megawatts from coal
and 12 megawatts from diesel.
It has a scrubber and some other upgrades
to reduce emissions.
Locals are concerned about pollution from this
plant going into the Conemaugh river that it is next to.
I will be adding more info about this plant soon.
Pollution
Mercury Output
It's listed as producing 494 pounds of
mercury pollution in 1999, which
was about one quarter of what
Homer City and Keystone each put out.
