A front group is a group that attempts to appear benevolent and fair when in fact it is funded by wealthy interests who want to further some nefarious agenda. Front groups are necessary in order to conceal conflicts of interest, undefensible lines of argument, or disturbing ideologies.

United Seniors Association = sham organization run by Republicans and big drug companies.
National Taxpayers Union/Foundation = Neoconservative front group.
