The Simpson Timber company in Eureka and Arcata, California,
in Humboldt County, had been pumping out
tons of nasty, cancer-causing white smoke
that fell all over the city of Eureka, and they
were dumping dioxin into the Pacific ocean.
Some surfers came down with cancer because
of this, and their group, the
Humboldt Surfriders Foundation, sued Simpson in
a class-action suit,
and won.
