Jack and Marilyn Jack and Marilyn Rogers: Joined USAF with Mike Reid and Pat Pendergrass in April 1961. Last year in USAF stationed at Hill AFB where I met Marilyn H Perry. We were married March 12, 1965 and are still happily married. We have one child, Laura Evans, who lives with her husband and 7 month old daughter, Kira Ann, in Layton, Utah. Marilyn is a Brigham City native and we've lived in our home there for 34 years. (There's not enough dynamite in the state of Utah to blast Marilyn out of it!) After I got out of the Air Force, I worked several jobs before I hired back on as a civilian at Hill AFB. I retired Jan 3, 1995 and haven't missed it one iota. Marilyn has some health problems, so we don't travel too far from home. My main hobby is metal detecting whick I've been doing since 1990. It's a lot of fun and there's some nice old coins and jewelry in the ground to be found! Have a Happy Reunion!!

James Sullivan no picture available James Sullivan: We attended the last reunion about 1980. In 1985, I completed my PhD. in history at the University of Houston. I had taken a leave of absence to complete by course work in 1978. Following a long struggle, I completed three long exams and my dissertation. I successfully defended the latter in 1985 while still retaining my teaching position in Brownsville. Following that victory, my wife kept after me to have a baby, so we had Anais in 1989, and we got so good at it that we had another daughter, Vita in 1991. I have an older daughter, Jessica, from my former marriage. She is 25, and is just now about ready to graduate from college after almost making a career out of "going to college". The girls have been a tremendous joy, but I recognize the responsibilities of parenthood so very well in the world we live in today. My wife, Thelma of 20 years, is the counselor for international students at the University of Texas at Brownsville where I teach. She received her Master's of Education at the U of H in 1979 and later got a position at the university. Originally our college was a community college called Texas Southmost. We became part of the UT system as a full-fledged university in 1991. We both love to travel. Three years ago, following Thelma's attendance at a conference in Vancouver, we took a cruise up the Inside Passage to Alaska with our girls. It was a glorious trip. Year before last, I had a conference in Tokyo, and Thelma accompanied me to the other side of the world. I had not been in that part of the world since I stopped there as a young second lieutenant heading for Vietnam in 1968.

Richie and Sylvia Gillespie and family Richie Gillespie: I continue to reside on a farm in the Arrey area, having been in the farming business since graduation. Many people my age are retiring, or have thoughts of retiring in the near future, but in this business, you don't retire. So when you sit down to your tables to eat, please remember me! I'm helping you to put that food on your tables! So eat more!!! My wife Sylvia and I will celebrate 36 years of marriage in September and are the parents of two grown sons, Kenneth and Alan. Both of the boys are married and have families of their own. kenneth and his wife, Charron, live in Hatch and Kenneth is a field consultant for AGRO Distribution, Inc. They have three children, Brianna, age 15, Chelsey, age 12, and Garrett, age 7. Alan and his wife, Tonya, live in Arrey and are the parents of Shania, age 7. Alan is supervisor and heavy equipment operator for J.R. Hale Construction Co. My favorite pastimes are golfing (which I never have enough time to do), camping, exploring the back country on 4-wheelers, and spending quality time with my family and close friends.

Campbell family Mary Shaddix Campbell: After graduation I attended Eastern NM University. In November of 1963 I married Verne J. Campbell, a fellow student and Baptist minister. We both graduated in the Spring of 1964. We both had degrees in Education. From Portales we moved to Arlington, Texas, where I taught school & Verne attended Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth. Verne also pastored a church while in Seminary. I took classes from Texas Women's University and also Southwester. We sponsored a mission trip of seminary students to the Bahamas and spent the summer going from one island to another. We had Bible schools in the day and Revivals at night. After Verne graduated in 1967 we moved to Monte Vista, Colorado where Verne pastored a Baptist Church, and I became a home maker. Both of our boys Kyle and Russ, were born while in Colorado. If you can believe it, we moved from this beautiful high mountain valley to the lower desert of California in 1971. They had just had a grasshopper plague, and the house we bought had a garage loaded with dead grasshoppers. Lots of fun! Verne again pastored a Baptist church, we came to enjoy the desert, and our oldest son became the King Lizard catcher. I did substitute teaching in the elementary school and was active in the church teaching and leading home Bible studies. After seven and a half years Verne was called to a church in Fresno California. While in Fresno I began working through the Fresno Literary sociery teaching reading and writing to adults. Then our church sponsored a Boat family, and we started reaching the Hmong people. I taught the adults English and then ESL in the public schools. I attended Fresno Pacific College and started working on credentials as a reading specialists. From Fresno, Verne was called to a church in Sunland, California, which is in the north east part of L.A. I began teaching in a private christian school and completed my fifth year to get my California teaching credentials. I attended California State University at Northridge (Yes! that is where the earth quake was centered) I continued to teach until 1993 when I had a heart attack and open heart surgery. I decided it was time to take it a little easier. In July of 1999 Verne resigned the church in Sunland to become the Head Chaplain at Olive View Medical Center which is a large teaching hospital. We bought a home and moved to Sylmar, Calif. which is close to the hospital. At the present I do lots of Tole paintingreading, teaching home bible studies, gardening and traveling with my husband in our motor home. Mostly we go to the coast and park on the beach, but we also like to go up the coast to Oregon and to Canada. Our oldest son is working on his masters degree in counseling at California Baptist University. He is still single. Our youngest son is married and works as a supervisor on the Alameda Corridor. He presently has 79 men working under him. His wife, Stef, is working on her masters degree in California State University at Northridge. She has her degree in communication disorders. No Grandchildren! We are happy and enjoying life. Sorry I will not be able to come to the class reunion.

Sharon Houston van Griethuysen: Hi Everyone from the Class of l960! Forty years in l960 seemed like an infinite time but now it seems like only a few days ago we graduated with our hopes for the future. As with most people's lives, what my plans were for the future took directions I never expected. Life certainly teaches you that you are not always in control. After graduation I went to Eastern New Mexico University where I majored in political science with plans to become a lawyer, but I fell in love, married, and used my second major English to teach while my husband worked on his PhD in psychology at Washington State University. While there, I received a Master's Degree in English, rather than law as they had no law school, and so my career was set. Since that time, except for five years when I worked for Teledyne Water Pik in Fort Collins, CO, I have taught English. My most memorable teaching job was at a BIA school on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming where I worked with Arapahoe Indian children and where I left part of my heart. The children were beautiful, intelligent, lively, creative, and extremely needy as most of their parents were dead. For the last ten years, I have taught high school and college classes in Southwest Iowa in a small school, a private college, and a junior college. Also, for the past five years I have directed the play-just call me Mrs. Schwartz! My personal life has been enriched by my one son Kevan, who is 28 and will marry in September. Fortunately I have had his wedding to look forward to in a very bleak summer that has evolved one disaster after another in my family and among my friends. My husband's cancer is in remission but it is terminal with the prognosis being a year. We have tried to have as many enjoyable moments as possible this summer...the paradox of life allows great joy among the sorrow to preserve our sanity. My mom is still alive and my sister Sharlott continues to be my best friend. Occasionally I see my brother Jim/John who now lives in North Carolina. Overall my life has been blessed with my family, friends, son, and husband. It is the golden shower of emotions that one shares with friends and family that makes life worthwhile. Therefore,I had hoped to revive some friendships with my classmates since I have not made it back before now as I love New Mexico and think fondly of my childhood there. I'll make it back ten years from now, so stay healthy.

Denelda Applegate Dodgen and her son. Married in 1960 lived in T. or C. until about 1979 and raised my children there. Moved to South Carolina where I continues to live. I have two girls and a boy, and one child that passed away. I have one grandson, who is the light of my life. I sure miss T. or C., and all the HSHS classmates. I hope to be able to travel back one day soon and see some of you. I am in bad health and have to be on oxygen continously. Not any fun, but that is what happens when you smoke for so many years. Denelda passed away in 2002.

Dennis Franklin: Lives in Hillsboro, NM

I had a nice surprise yesterday. Just got back from a trip and Don Moseley had left a message on my machine that he was in Las Cruces and would like to get together for coffee. So this morning we met at Pancake Alley and talked for the first time in 41 years. Had a great visit and caught up on what had happend to us in those years and even played "remember when?". Here is a picture of him in front of the restaurant.
Don Mosely: Lives in Peorea, Arizona and is a civil engineering inspector for the city of Surprise, Arizona. Married to Neta and has two daughters and 3 grandchildren.

Joe Conwell Wood: I spent 26 years in the Air Force. Retired here at Keesler AFB. I reside here with my present wife, Alice. I retired in Jan '89, and presently work fulltime in a video store. I have 4 children by my first wife. I also have 6 wonderful Grandchildren. Two of my daughters reside in San Antonio, TX. My youngest daughter resides in Columbus, OH. My son, works for a company who does contract work for the US Army. He and his wife reside in the South Pacific.

Al Hutson: I was really excited to know that I could renew old memories by finding some of my old classmates. I am really sorry that I haven't been in contact with you since I signed up with 'Classmates' but I am not one to spend a lot of time on the internet, in fact this is the first time in 3 weeks that I have even checked my E-mail. You mentioned that someone has designed a web page for Hot Springs High, I would like to visit it if you could give me the address. I am at a loss to picture you and my other classmates because my yearbooks were lost in a move I made back in the early '70s and I have never been able to get a copy of the pictures from our graduating class. I have never been to any of our reunions because I was never able to get away from my work. Also for a number of years I really didn't think that anyone would care because I really wasn't one of the "popular" kids in school. Now that I think about it, I guess as I have gotten older and older and older ( I actually get senior discounts now) I realize that was silly. My adult life has been filled with dear friends which I love and which love me, so why not my high school classmate. At any rate here I am!!!!! Would love to see you again, get to find out about your life and have you get to know about mine.. later, Al Hutson

John McClosky: Lives in El Paso, Texas, retired.
