Three Bleak Observations

Three Bleak Observations

1. "Why can't water just be water," ponders
a parched man stranded in the middle
of the Mojave, upon spying a mirage.

2. Sweet oblivion, where for art thou?
Oh, how I miss not knowing
in a time when
knowledge is King,

wisdom is Queen
and the Prince of Darkness is serving up
delicious delicacies that delight the soul
or send it to painful oblivion.
It's painfully obvious
when I'm painfully oblivious to it all –
a face, forever-and-a-day, bored.

3. With the fear of Death in his eyes,
"Would'a, could'a, should'a, but didn't,”
says a man with one foot on
shaky ground, one foot on even shakier,
and the proverbial foot in his mouth.
