~CURIOUS ANGEL~

Morning Light

My little angel brother, flew right up next to me,
And began to whisper in my ear, how he wanted things to be.
“It’s busy here in heaven and hectic down on earth,
They look forward to Santa Claus, as we to Jesus’ birth.”

I nodded and then I smiled, thinking of all the lighted trees,
And children peeking underneath, asking, “Which ones are for me?”
The smells of Christmas, cinnamon, warm fires in the hearth,
And the houses twinkling red and green, illuminating in the dark.

My lil angel brother seemed confused, when a giggle escaped from me,
And then he asked, “Why do you laugh? It’s not in Jesus they believe."
“It seems they are quite selfish, and waste their money so,
When all the joy they’ll ever need is here for them to know.”

I thought a moment and still I smiled, and this is what I said,
“I was thinking of their parents, lovingly tucking them in bed.
Their little hearts are filled with such excitement and joy,
Much like the shepherds and wisemen, at the birth of Mary’s boy.”

“So, as long as they remember, the reason for the day,
And as long as they are filled with love as they watch their children play,
There’s nothing bad about what they do, there’s a feeling in the air,
At least it’s one day of the year, people open their hearts and share.”

My lil angel brother, still hovering next to me,
Leaned close and gave a little smile, and then he laughed with glee,
“I understand now...now I see! Thank you, my angel sis.”
Before he flew away again, on my cheek he placed a kiss.
